At the age of 15 years, she went to this academy and became one of the first women to study there. During that period, she even met and befriended Federico García Lorca and Salvador Dalí.

In 1937, Remedios Varo travelled to Paris in order to escape from the Spanish Civil war. She did it with the poet Benjamin Perét, who was french.

In 1941 she fled to Mexico because Nazis from the German Reich reached the capital of France. After that, she fell in love with this country and stayed there for a long time.

Remedios Varo married Benjamin Peré but this marriage had only one purpose, they wanted to give her a passport to fly around South America, that's why it lasted a year.

In 1955, Mexico allowed Remedios Varo to do her first exhibition. Since that year, she became more recognised in that country.

In 1957, Remedios Varo painted one of her most famous paintings called "Creation of the birds" in english.
