I went to day care/ preschool for about 2 years and I never picked up how to read during that time. -
In 2013 I started kinder and still couldn't read or identify letters to spell simple things. -
When I started first grade I got my IEP for reading and writing since I was behind grade level. I also struggled in speech so the teachers had a hard time understanding me to know if I could read or not. -
In about April of my kindergarten year the doctors found out I couldn't see anything so they believed that once I got glasses I would be able to learn better. -
Towards the end of 1st grade I started learning letters than some words that I was able to read on my own. -
In third grade I start being able to read smaller books with pictures. -
In about 4th grade I started being able to read chapter books with no pictures but I needed extra tools to help. -
I was able to get back up to grade level in reading and writing by about 6th grade but then the following year covid hit. -
Going into high school I got put into Honor classes and had straight A's for most of the years. -
I graduated with an Associates degree and I barely struggle to read or write now.
