Early school
Niels went to Copenhagen University where he earned his master's and doctorate in physics by 1911. He was originally in school for mathematics and philosophy. -
Family life
In 1912 Neils Bohr married his wife Margrethe Norland and had six children. Four of which lived to adulthood. One became a very well known physics scientist. -
Atomic structure
In 1913 Bohr published his model of the atomic structure that closely resembled the way the solar system works. -
Correspondence Principle
Niels established what was called the "correspondence principle'. This was the idea that quantum physics and classical physics give similar answers when the systems become large. -
Nobel prize
In 1922 Niels Bohr received the Nobel Prize in physics for his work on the structure of the atom. -
Principle of Complementarity
From 1926-1927 Bohr came up with his principle of complementarity. This was the idea that particles can be separately analyzed as have many contradictory and exclusive properties. This is a subject of heated debate between philosophers some who accuse Bohr of naive positivism. -
Changing physics
In 1927 after Bohr came up with the Complementarity principle it changed the way we looked at the philosophy of physics which held tight to the idea that knowable laws ruled the universe and everything in it -
Open Letter to the UN
Bohr wrote a letter to the United Nation asking for an open world freely sharing technical and scientific information. -
Chairman
Bohr became the chairman for the Danish Atomic Energy commission. -
