He was astonished that the bird could speak; he was the first person to see a bird speak the human language. -
He went back inside, his heart racing, and then he heard a tapping at his window, so he opened it to help face his feelings of fear. -
He was startled at how fast the bird replied, but thinks it's only repeating a word it learned from a sad, miserable person. -
He yelled at the bird asking it if it's actually a bird or a demon,if he'll ever see his lover Lenore ever again and the raven replied...Nevermore. -
He yelled at the raven to leave and to not leave a trace of it existence behind, but the raven again replied...Nevermore. -
The raven made him feel strangely calm, so he pulled up a chair and sat across it thinking about what it meant by nevermore. -
It's Winter, and the fire was dying, making scarce shadows, while he was mourning for his lost lover, Lenore. -
The narrator is reading late at night when he hears a soft tapping at his door. -
The plaintive sound of the curtains against the windows made him feel a type of fear he had never felt before, so he lied to himself to make himself feel better.. -
He stared into the darkness, nervously thinking frantically of a cause, then whispered Lenore and thought he heard a faint reply. -
It's Winter, and the fire was dying, making scarce shadows, while he was mourning for his lost lover, Lenore. -
He opens the window, and a big raven flies in, landing on the statue above his door. -
He smiled at first at the bird and wondered why it was here, so he asked a question to the bird, and the bird replied with one word...Nevermore. -
The raven sat quietly as if it only knew one word; it didn't move or say anything else, so he spoke, saying that the bird will leave him like everyone else does, but it said the same thing, Nevermore -
He sat there for a long time, thinking hard, while the raven started at him intently, and he realized that his lover will never sit next to him ever again. -
The atmosphere seemed to tensen as he smelled a sweet smelling perfume and think the bird was sent from heaven to try and help it forget his loss and grief but the bird says the same thing...Nevermore. -
"prophet" he yelled to the bird, now thinking it was sent from hell to test him he asked still yelling if it will give him hope, peace, and healing and the raven replied...Nevermore -
The raven did not leave and its eyes staring at him like a demon who found its prey, and it never left saying the same thing over and over...Nevermore
