My experience with Technology Over the Years

The Computer in the Back of the Class

The first experience that comes to mind is back in elementary school when we had the reading program AR. It was a program where you read a book then took an online quiz to get AR points. This was on an old computer that sort of looked like a box. That was really all we used the computer for in class back then which wasn't anything mind blowing but we all still thought it was cool we had a computer in the classroom.

    Into the New Era

I remember it was in like 5th-6th grade when we got new computers a finally had a computer lab. We got rid of those old computers and got Mac computers. It was amazing getting to see the new technology and actually getting to use it. My friends and I formed a club where we stared a school newspaper and got to use the computers a lot more often so we got pretty good at using them.
  • Chromebooks

    Chromebooks

When I got to the 9th grade, we had chromebooks. Not every class had them but some of mine did. It was pretty cool getting to do work on the chromebooks. The only annoying part was when you had to check them in and out or when one would go missing and no one could leave class until it was found. It was also annoying when you would check one out and it was dead because the person before you had not plugged it into the charger in the Chromebook cart.

    11th grade

In the 11th grade, the school had finally gotten chromebooks for every single student. They were required in all classes and we had curriculum that specially needed the use of Chromebooks. It was pretty cool having my own chromebook since I never had technology at home growing up and now I had my own Chromebook to take home. I didn't have Wifi at home so it was useless the second I left school but I still thought it was cool.

    My First Year at College

I attended UC Merced for my first year of college. My parents had bought me my first laptop. It was the first time a computer was mine and mine only. I didn't do much research on what kind to get. I choose it for it's blue color and small size. While I didn't have much technology growing up at home, I was exposed to enough technology at school for me to know how to use a laptop and how to navigate the internet.
