I learned to use PaintBrush and Word Perfect. I stored information on floppy discs. My computer was huge. Connecting to a network was hard. The sound is unforgettable. At that point, in class, I just used the computer like a typewriter machine to present written documents.

Laptop! I found information quickly on the search engine AON. I also stored grades and received emails from work and the university. I was not expected to check my emails frequently. " You've got an email" was fascinating. However, it was not much use for class.

Classes got more interesting! One could calculate grades with an Excel spreadsheet, connect with guest speakers through Skype, and find important information for the class from different sources. And use the projector in class.

The laptop was faster, and CD-ROM helped when the ESL language classes programs included the audio part—suitable for the class! It was not good when CDs got scratched, though.
