  • Rosa Parks meets James Blake

    Blake was a bus driver, Parks paid her fee to ride the bus he was driving. He told her to enter through the back, when she got off to go to the back entry door he drove off.
  • Rosa Parks attends Seminar

    Parks who was a member of the naacp attended a seminar about non-violent civil disobedience.
  • Parks arrested

    Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat that was in the black section of James Blakes bus to a white man.
  • Rosa meets with MLK Jr.

    Dr. King held a meeting with Parks and a group to discuss boycott strategies.
  • Churches help

    Churches began helping the movement by raising money for boycotters to have cab fare instead of riding the bus.
  • MLK's home bombed

    Dr. King's home was bombed by white members of the community after efforts to end boycotts did not work.
  • Arrest are made

    89 African Americans were arrested using an old law that prohibits boycotting. Dr. King was the first tried and was found guilty. He was sentenced to a year in prison or forced to pay fines totally $1000

    Browder-vs-Gayle was a case heard before the district court about bus segregation laws
  • Court Ruling

    Federal court ruled segregation on busses unconstitutional.
  • Official End

    The official end to Boycott. The boycott lasted 381 days.
  • Busses intergrated

    Busses intergraded. Snipers began shooting at busses. The city was forced to suspend bus operations after hate groups tried starting whites only services.
  • SCLC

    The Southern Christian Leadership Conference was founded with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. being elected president. King continued to fight for civil rights!
