In 1st grade, I remember going down to our school's library and picking out books for reading time with my class. While I was strolling around and looking at shelves, this one book caught my eye and I chose it. After reading it, it became one of my favorites as I was hooked immediately to its story and the illustrations drawn. It was called, "My Teacher Sleeps in School" by Leattie Weiss, and after reading this book, I believed for a short period of time that teachers actually lived in schools.

Reading books was my hobby back then, and I loved going down to my schools library. But, I had a favorite author of all time and I read every single one of his books available in my school's library. His name was Mo Willems, and he was known for writing books such as, "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus," and "Knuffle Bunny." I remember I discovered his books in Second grade after seeing my classmates read his books, and his work always got me hooked.

Towards the end of my elementary years, I started to like historical books and they piqued my interest. A specific series I remember reading daily was the "I Survived" series, and they would always be on my bookshelves at home. My favorite in particular was "I Survived Hurricane Katrina."
