    The Old English Period - Part I

    Rise and Fall of the Anglo-Saxon Invasion - 449-1066
    Following the decline of Roman rule, Germanic tribes found area to settle in the British/English lands. Eventually falling to the Norman Conquest. Viking Incursions - 800-1000
    This was the time where Vikings would go for pillaging, trading, and possible settling.
  • Period: 450 to 1100

    Old English Period - Part II

    Suspected Time of Beowulf's Writing(s) - 1000 AD
    This is a collection of poems that were written in old English, and are considered some of the oldest writings recorded in the English language. The Norman Conquest - 10/14/1066
    This invasion led to the upper-class families of England's primary language to be French. This eventually led to French being borrowed for a more modern version of English, Middle English.

    Middle English Period - Part I

    Chaucer's Canterbury Tales - 1387
    This is a collection of stories that were allegedly told by Pilgrims while on their way to the Canterbury cathedral. Inventing of the Printing Press - 1440
    The printing press is an invention by Gutenberg, the Gutenberg Printing Press. This invention was a staple to the English language, as it helped efficiently create permanent records for us to look back on. This invention was initially for the church, but became more widespread.

    Discovery of the Americas - 10/12/1492
    This was the discovery of the Americas! When Christopher Columbus sailed the seven seas, and landed on the "New Land" or North and South America(s)!

    Middle English Period - Part III

    The Magna Carta - 1215
    This is a ruling, written in Latin, that states that everyone, including the king, or otherwise ruler, was subject to the laws set in place. IN doing so, limits the power of the monarchy. The Statue of Pleading - 1362
    This situation is what eventually leads to English being the primary, and known, language of England. Also eventually leading King Henry IV to being the first English Monarch to deliver an English speech.

    Modern English Period - Part I

    The Publication of William Shakespeare's First Folio - 1623
    Worth approximately 10 million USD, William Shakespeare's First Folio! This one of a kind book is a printed copy of all of Shakespeare's plays, including some that haven't appeared in physical form until 1623. Without this book, we may have never seen, or even heard about these works of art!

    Modern English Period - Part II

    The American Revolution - 04/18/1775
    Staring at Lexington and Concord, the American Revolution was planned for America to free itself from Britain. Of course, after they tried peaceful means. World War II - 09/01.1939
    This war was waged because Germany tried to invade Poland. From then, countries from across the world joined the fight to either protect, or gain control. There were many fatalities.

    Global Pandemic - 2020
    In 2020, the world was subject to a very dangerous virus known as COVID-19. This virus led to a world-wide quarantine. This prohibited young people, such as myself, to struggle in the world of learning. US Presidential Debates - 2024-25
    As of recent, there have been many controversies between many parties on the recent Presidential election. Many people are upset, but many people are pleased. As of now, there are still controversies about this situation.
