    Battle of Britain
    This battle was officialy started by July 10th, 1940 and ended October 31st, 1940. It was an air battle fought by Germany and Britain over the Uk. It was started by Germany in hopes that they could launch a seaborn invasion of Britain, but before they could do this they had to gain air superiority over the English channel. And to do this they had to wipe out the RAF. The overall outcome was that Germany lost, this ment that they could not launch "sealion" the invation of England.

    Operation Barbarossa
    On June 22, 1941 Germany invaded the Soviet Union. Hitler's goal was to conquer the Soviet Union and obtain their resorces. But Germany lost the battle, and many men while getting these resorces.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    On December 7, Sunday at 7:55 AM. Japanese naval pilots bombed the US ports of Pearl Harbor. Japan wanted to take out the majority of the US navy, because the US had stopped all natural resorces from being traded with Japan, also US froze Japan's finances. Because of the attack the US joined WWII

    Bataan Death March
    During World War II, the Japanese were unprepared for the number of american prisoners that had been captured and did not have a plan for how to get them to the Balanga, so eventualy made them march. This march lasted for many weeks as thousands of US prisoners marched the 63 mile stretch to Balanga. The harsh outcome was that thousands of US prisoners died along the way.
  • Operation Overlord

    Operation Overlord
    The western allies (US, UK, and Canada) attacked Germany in Normandy France. The west coast was convienced that the only way to beat the Germans was to fight on Frence soil. This resulted in a decisive allied victory over Germany, it was a major turning point in WWII
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    The Germans were desperate towards the end of the war, so made an even more desperate move to try and get ahead in the war. The German Army attacked through the Ardennes forest in eastern Belgium on December 16th. Hundreds of german tanks and troops broke through American lines. The Americans were greatly out numbered but were still able to delay the Germans and eventualy stopped them. The end resulted in a decisive allied victory over the Germans
  • Yalta Conference

    Yalta Conference
    The Yalta Conference was the meeting of the heads of government of the US, UK, and SU (Soviet Union). It was held in the Livadia Palace, in Yalta, were the three heads of government got together to agree on war and prewar progress. Eventualy they decided to divide germany into four zones, bring Nazi war criminals to trial, to set up a government of national unity. They also decided on to try and help feed people in Europe.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    The Battle of Iwo Jima lasted from February 19th to March 26th 1945. During this time the US armed forces fought for and captured the islands of Iwo Jima from the Japanese main empire. The US wanted to capture the island to provide a staging area for attacks on the Japanese main lands.

    V-E Day
    V-E Day was a day for celebrating. People from Moskow to NY celebrated the surrender of France and Germany. When Germany surrender, the victory went to Europe and WWII ended.
  • Dropping the Atomic Bomb

    Dropping the Atomic Bomb
    Two atomic bombs were dropped by the US in the final stages of world war II. One was dropped on Hiroshima and the other on Nigasaki. Prior to dropping the bombs we could have either starved Japan out, Invaded Japan, or drop the bombs, and end WWII right then and there. So the US dropped the bomb making Japan Surrender.
  • V-J Day

    V-J Day
    After the US dropped the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki the Japanese surrendered. The formal surrender took place aboard the USS missouri on August 14th. After the bomb was dropped Japan almost was forced to surrender with the treat of the US dropping more. Once Japan surrendered it ended world war two.
