-
I remember it was a cold dark night in December and the fire was going out and I was heartbroken thinking of my lost love. -
I was surprised a bird could talk and the answer it gave me seemed to not mean much also no one has seen a bird saying a word like nevermore. -
The Raven ended up sitting there quietly like it only new one word it did nothing else or say anything else tomorrow it will leave me. -
I was startled how quickly it replied and this bird keeps repeating the same word over and over. -
But the Raven presence made me feel strangely calm also I pulled up a chair across him. -
I said again bird or demon by heaven and by God above tell me the truth will I ever see my love again. -
Leave I yelled go back into the storm and don't leave any sign of your lies behind and take your shadow away. -
I stood at the door staring into the darkness and full of wild thoughts and I whispered her name and a silent repeat I herd. -
The narrator was reading books late one night to forget about his love when he heard knocking at his door. -
The soft sad sound of my curtains moving from the wind and to calm myself down I kept saying its just somebody knocking on my door. -
My heart grew a little more brave and Madam please forgive me I opened the door and there was nothing but darkness. -
I went back inside with my heart racing and heard another tapping at my window. -
I opened the window and a big black Raven came flying in and it went straight across the room perched on a statue above my door. -
I smiled at how proud the bird looked I said " you aren't afraid at all" Can you tell me your name mysterious raven. -
The air started to thicken I also smelled sweet perfume I cried to the Raven help me forget my grief for Lenore. -
I sat in the chair for a long time thinking deeply and the ravens fire eyes stared into my heart and with the lamplight glowing softly. -
I cried for devil tell me the truth are you sent to test me aren't you just from the underworld tell me will there be healing. -
Then at the end the Raven still hasn't left it stays on the statue above my door the eyes of it looks like a demon and the lamp throws its shadow on the floor.
