  • Germany Invades Poland

    On this day, Germany invaded Poland which led to the declaration of war with Germany by Britain and France, this is because Britain and France are both allies with Poland and would come to aid if needed. Hitler claimed it was self defense but the two major powers in Europe weren't convinced. In Hitlers plans this would be the first step to rule Europe and would bring living space to the 'Racially superior Germans'.

  • Britain and France declare war on Germany

    Britain and France declared war of Germany after the invasion of Poland, the British Ambassador sent a note warning Germany/Hitler to withdraw troops from Poland or else war would exist between the two nations but Hitler declined.   • Churchill becomes Prime Minister of Britain

    On this day Winston Churchill was elected prime minister of Britain after Neville Chamberlain lost many of his supporters due to Nazis invading Poland, which he promised would not happen and he also promised peace for everyone. Churchill was elected mainly due to his military experience which in the time was crucial because the Nazis were winning a lot of territory.

    Evacuation of Dunkirk

    On this day more than 338000 British and French soldiers were transported away after Germany broke through defenses lightning fast using their new strategy and extremely powerful weapons and tanks. This is significant as this saved 338000 soldiers from the capture of Nazis which could have led to the death of all these people.

    On this day Italy joins war on the side of the axis power which consists of Germany and Japan.

    On this day France signed armistice with Germany after Paris has fallen into the hands of Germany and it was close to the end of conquering France. It was signed in Compiegne in France, which was the place where Germany signed the Armistice which ended WW1 with Germany's surrender.

This battle included many bombings and attacks on British Air forces, after the defeat of France and majority of Europe being conquered the last force which could possibly change the outcome of Germany's occupation of Europe was Britain.     On this day the Tripartite Pact was signed by Germany, Japan and Italy in Berlin. This pact was to mainly make America rethink before joining the War as it said to provide assistance to any of the nations (German, Japan and Italy) if any other country attacked and was not in the war.

    Operation Barbarossa

    This operation was the attack of the soviet union with more than 3 million German soldiers. This was a significant battle as this was one of the biggest reasons leading to Germans defeat and the huge turning point in the war. During the time the Soviet union was also a huge power and while the Germans were not able to take over Britain it would be the worst thing to have a strong country to join to war on the oppositions side.

  • Bombing of Pearl Harbor

    On the 7th of December 1941, the American Naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii Oahu island was attacked by 360 Japanese Planes which killed many people and destroyed about 20 American Naval Vessels and more than 300 airplanes.   • Britain and US declare war on Japan

    On this day Britain and US declares war on Japan after the bombing of Pearl Harbor of the Us naval base and the attack of British forces in Malaya Singapore. This drove the involvement of America to join war on the side of Europeans which was devastating for the Axis Alliance.

  • Japan takes Singapore

    On this day, Japan attacked Singapore and took control over it using the air troops from the bombing of Pearl Harbor, killing more than 61 civilians, and trying to convince the people in Singapore to surrender.

    On this day an atomic weapon was used on a city called Hiroshima in Japan, despite the death of Hitler and the surrender of Germany WW2 did not completely end as the war between Japan, Britain and the united states were still on. The US being warned not to invade Japan as it would cause even more casualties came up with a way which could quickly end the war. It was the idea of using an Atomic bomb.

    On this day the soviet union declared war on Japan, sending more than a million soldiers into Manchuria and the northeast of China to fight the Japanese soldiers who were extremely modern with their weapons thus making it hard. This was significant as it helped to completely end WW2.

    Despite the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima the Japanese were not convinced to surrender which resulted in another bomb dropped on Nagasaki which finally resulted in the surrender of Japan unconditionally. This ended WW2.
