  • Germany invades Poland

    Germany invades Poland
    On the 1st of September 1939 Hitler invaded Poland. The people involved were the Nazi German soldiers and was run by Hitler. On the 17th of September Russia also invaded Poland. The invasion was complete by the 6th of October where Germany and Russia agreed to split Poland and include each part under their growing empires. This was significant because this invasion is what lead the world into World War 1.

    The Declaration of war by France and the United Kingdom happened on 3 September 1939, after German forces invaded Poland. Despite the speech being the official announcement of both France and the United Kingdom, the speech was given by the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, in Westminster, London. On this day in response to Hitler's invasion of Poland.

He was significant because he was right about the Nazis. Many British politicians hoped Hitler was lying about his intentions. Winston never believed it. He declared the British aim was victory at all costs.

The Tripartite Pact was directed primarily at the United States. This was significant because this was meant to keep peace so Germany wouldn't invade, but Hitler still did after signing.

It was controlling Africa which would give the Allied forces an advantage because they had a base were they could attack Europe.

Germany and its Axis forces invaded the Soviet Union with 3,000,000 troops and 3,400 tanks. Soviet forces were unprepared and overrun and the Soviet military had suffered 4.3 million casualties and the Germans had captured many Soviet soldiers The Soviets had so many casualties because they were so unexperienced.

They spread over 5 miles of Normandy. The German's knew that the Allies were going to attack but didn't know where from. The United States wanted to take back the western coasts of Europe from Germany. The location: Normandy, France and the result was an Allied victory.

The Allies were going really easy and quite fast through France. Nazi Germany attempt was to push the Allied front line west from northern France to northwestern Belgium. The location was the Ardennes in Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany. Many Americans died in this battle 19,276 American solders were killed.

    The death of Benito Mussolini took in the final days of World War II and took place in Europe, when he was executed by Italian partisans in the small village in northern Italy. He was the cause of thousands of deaths. Italy thought he had left his country to ruin when he joined with Hitler and stabbed France in the back. He had dreams of empire before Hitler. He was captured once before but no one could save him now. He was hung up by his heels.

The rest of the bunker staff know the closer the Soviets are they closer Hitler is to be commuting suicide. They already knew it was the end. In the afternoon he retried and shoots himself with him as his wife. His staff found him and knew he was going to kill himself. He shot himself in the head.

On Sunday afternoon two German officers were wearing normal clothing sat down at the British army head quarters, near Naples and signed the first formal surrender of German forces. It was significant because Germany finally surrendered, they had started WW2 and finally they were defeated.

    The United Nations adopted and signed on the 26th of June the United Nations Charter. The charter was signed by delegates from 50 countries as a means of saving future generations from war.
    The United Nations was born to stop conflict and negotiating peace than was provided for by the old League of Nations.
  • Atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima

    On August 6th at 8am in the morning American B-29 bomber dropped the world's first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. It's code name was little boy and was the first bomb ever nuclear weapon dropped on humans. It was an attack in World War 2, that no one saw coming. It dropped over 30, 000 feet and drop for 45 seconds. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people and tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure.
