This is when I first remember having a computer at home. We had dial-up Internet, AOL instant messaging, and a multiplication computer game. At school, we could do web searches and play the Oregon Trail. Image: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/in-25-years-since-its-launch-aol-instant-messenger-has-never-been-away-180980086/

As I moved to a new school I discovered Smartboards. Gone were the days of chalk and chalkboards. Now we could interact with the board and use a pen to draw, point, and click. Image: https://imedia.noctrl.edu/smartboard_classrooms.html

I had track practice after school and my parents both worked full-time jobs. They gave me my first phone so I could call them to pick me up after practice. It was a pink Motorola Razr and I loved it! Image: https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2021/07/10548058/classic-cell-phone-nostalgia

I can remember using encyclopedias to learn new topics in elementary school, then going to the library and looking up information in books, textbooks, and journals. In high school, I can remember being allowed to use Google to find information anywhere on the web. We would use Google Images to add pictures to our PowerPoint presentations. Google is the best! However, I miss the butler from Ask Jeeves!

At first, I listened to music on cassette tapes, CDs, and then the iPod Nano. Mine was yellow, and you could load so many songs on it. The best part was the songs didn't skip if you were in the car and hit a bump like CD players did. Image: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/iPodnano8Blk--apple-ipod-nano-8gb-8gb-black

As I entered my freshman year of college, my mom and I went to Best Buy to purchase my first laptop. It was heavy and red, and I took it everywhere in a laptop case. Image: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-laptop-with-intel-core2-duo-processor-cherry-red/9539243.p?skuId=9539243

As I entered my new role as a nurse educator I learned about Kahoot! A website that allows you to create an interactive game for students to play and learn. I have created so many Kahoots! instead of using PowerPoint to increase student participation in class. Image: https://www.instruction.uh.edu/2018/12/18/active-learning-with-kahoot/
