"In 1954 he published An identity for the S matrix for a finite time interval, Renormalization of the transformation operators of quantum electrodynamics, and Normal products of Heisenberg operators" 3. Polkinghorne was a great contributor to Mathematical Physics and was a key person in bringing together science and religion, and felt they could work together instead of against each other. -

John became an ordained Deacon at the Church of England (Anglican) in 1981 and a Priest in 1982. He was a prominent leader in the movement of bringing together science and religion.
