    The 1967 Referendum was a vote, in which the outcome was a majority yes, where the Constitution had changed to allow Indigenous Australians to be counted as a part of the population in the census, and to ensure special laws can be made about Indigenous Australians, such as for land rights.

    Australian Freedom Riders
    The Australian Freedom Riders were a group of about 30 Sydney University students who travelled across rural New South Wales to display the poor treatment of Indigenous Australians to the rest of New South Wales and ultimately all of Australia. They were met with a lot of criticism and opposition, however, they were also faced with many supporters.
  • Mabo Decision

    Mabo Decision
    After 10 years of being in the High Court of Australia, it was decided that the Court was in favour of the plaintiffs in the Mabo Case, wherein they were able to claim ownership of their land. This sparked the Court to remove the principle of Terra Nullius and introduce the doctrine of the Native Title
