    Democritus

    Democritus
Democritus' ideas about atoms is that atoms move constantly at random around empty voids and are indestructable and invisible things. He also suggested that atoms are the basic building blocks for matter.
  • Dalton

    Dalton
Dalton's theory about atoms is similar to that of Democritus' however he also developed numerous other theories. These included that the rearrangement of atoms was the cause of chemical reactions as well as that teh mass and properties of an atom in a certain element are all the same
  • Thomson

    Thomson
Joseph John Thomson was a physisict who discovered electrons and suggested a model for the atom being a sphere that contains postive matter with electrons embeddded within it. This atomic theory is widely known as the 'Plum Pudding theory'. He also suggested that all atoms are nuetral and have no positive or negative charge
  • Rutherford

    Rutherford
Rutherford developed an atomic model otherwise known as the 'Nuclear Model'. This model presents to us that the atom is nucleus that is positively charged and contains electrons that circulate at a distance resembling planets revolving around the sun.
  • Bohr

    Bohr
Bohr was a very famous scientist knwon for his contributions to the atomic theory. His rtheory about atoms was revolutionary as he realised that electrons travel at different orbits to each other around the core (nucleus) as well as that the properties of an element are determined by the number of electrons in the outer orbit.
  • Modern Quantam Cloud model

    Modern Quantam Cloud model
The modern quantam cloud model deveoped in post 1930's states that electrons do not have a 'pattern' or path that is able to be recognised. There is only something called a 'cloud' and the more dense the 'cloud', the easier it is to find an atom and the otherway around
