Or May 13th, some even said December 3rd... so it's a little all over the place... I just decided to do the most common one I seem to find. Also, I couldn't find the day and month that Jamestown was no longer the capital of Virginia. But the seat of goverment did move to Williamsburg on Oct 13, 1698.

Eli Whitney received a patent for his cotton gin on March 14, 1794. But he did apply for it on Oct 18, 1793. However, he wasn't validated for it until 1807.
