    The US Invasion of Panama

    The US was trying to overthrow a military dictator that had assumed power in Panama. It was a small-scale invasion which led to the death of 23 US soldiers and 150 of the dictator's soldiers, including 150 civilians. The leader was eventually captured by the US and extradited. He received 40 years in federal prison and was the only foreign leader ever to be tried by the US jury.

    Rodney King Beatinf/LA Riots

    Rodney King was a felon who led police on a high speed chase throughout Los Angeles, California while intoxicated. Once the police caught him, he resisted arrest and in return, the police brutally beat him. All of this was on body camera and outraged the city of LA. The police officers were acquitted on all charged which sparked outrage and led to a series of riots in LA.

    Passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement

    This agreement eliminated most trade tariffs the US had implemented. This gradually and immediately eliminated tariffs the United States had on other countries. These countries included Mexico and China. Mexico and China also eliminated tariffs they had on the United States.

    The Unabomber was a former Harvard graduate and professor who coordinated a series of attacks using bombs sent within mail. Ted Kaczynsky lived his life as a secluded man who believed that modern society and technology strayed humans further and further away from their natural state of being. He wished to preserve the old state in which humans lived, although it was unclear how his manifesto and victims were related.

    The Explosion of TWA Flight 800

    This was a passenger aircraft that was designated for Italy from New York. After about 12 minutes from takeoff, a gas tank in the left wing leaked which caused a large explosion killing all 232 people on board immediately. This was the second most deadly aviation disaster that occured in the US at the time.

    This was a bombing that took place during the Summer Olympics in Atlanta Georgia. It was a terrorist attack that killed 2 people and injured 111 others. The police were alerted of a bomb threat but did not act upon the warning.

    Heavens Gate was a cult that consisted of members who believed that the human body was a container that they needed to break free of. They believed they needed to do this so that they could pass Heaven's Gate and be escorted off the planet by extraterrestrial life. The members of the cult believed this to be true so much so that they all committed suicide together.

    Y2K Scare

    This was a nation wide hysteria that took place before the year 2000 hit. Computer software and hardware consisted of three digit codes which was thought to only interpret the years in the 1900s. People thought that all technology would fail once the year 2000 hit and governments spent millions of dollars trying to combat this, but nothing ended up happening.

    The Columbine Massacre

    This was a school shooting that took place in Columbine, Colorado. It is known for being one of the deadliest school shootings to take place in the US. Two 12th grade students shot and killed 12 students and one teacher. They placed explosives in the school cafeteria which could have potentially killed hundreds of more students, but did not go off.
