  • Indian Removal Act of 1830

    Indian Removal Act of 1830
    The Indian Removal Act was to exchange lands west of the Mississippi for Indian lands within state borders.Which forced thousands of Indians to leave their homes. Many tribes stood their grounds for their land but other tribes went peacefully. 4,000 Cherokees died on the march from leaving their land. Which became known as "The Trail Of Tears".
  • Civil War

    Civil War
    A War between The Confederacy and The Union. The war started because of political, economic and moral issues.The main reason was because of slavery. The war was ended by Robert E. Lee surrendering his troops to Ulysses S Grant. This war lasted from 1861-1865.
  • Gilded Age

    Gilded Age
    The Gilded Age was an era of great economic growth and wealth. The U.S. was the leading industrial nation and the most powerful. There was severe poverty for the working class and poor working conditions. This was a time of extreme greed from the wealthy, a very corrupt time. WW1 ended the Gilded Age.
  • Reconstruction act

    The Reconstruction act stated that the military took control of the Southern states until they received a new government. This divided the South into 5 military districts.
  • Great railroad strike

    the railroad cut wages 3 times in one year. This strike led to spreading over multiple states. The strike lasted for 52 days. 100 people were killed during this strike. Cities burned down facilities and railroad cars. The national Guard ended this strike.
  • Homestead Strike

    Homestead Strike
    Frick cut pay for hundreds of the Homestead workers. This was the deadliest strike that ever occured. 300 Pinkerton detectives arrived. Thousands of the strikers and their families showed and it broke out in gun fire. 16 people were killed, many women, men and children beaten. This ended on July 6.

    This was an era of political reform and social activism. Immigration increased rapidly and political corruption. The progressives purpose of this era was to help restore America. The activists fought for women's suffrage, workers rights, etc. All of this led to the 19th amendment.
  • Spanish American War

    Spanish American War
    This war began after the explosion of the Havana Harbor in Cuba. Cuba and PR were establishing their independence from Spain. Yellow journalism was in play when the US submarine exploded to drag out the situation and make it more dramatic. Cuba gained their independence. The U.S. gained 3 territories which were Puerto Rico,Guam and the phillipine island. the war ended December 10, 1898.

    Construction of the Panama Canal
    The canal was made to allow more trade routes from Columbia to the U.S.Linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.It was built to shorten the distance ships had to travel. The Canal symbolized U.S technological power.
  • World War 1

    The war started after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Which started a conflict between The Allies and Central Powers. This led to a 4 year war. The war had great effects on the economy, foreign policy and society. which led to economic growth. The war took place throughout Europe, Africa, Middle east, and the Pacific. 9 million soldiers died and 23 million were wounded. The war ended on November 11, 1918 because signed a peace agreement.
  • Spanish Flu Epidemic

    The Spanish Fly was a very deadly flu that lasted from 1918-1920.This virus is cause by H1N1 virus that started from a bird. 500 million people got infected with disease. The disease spread by Military transport ships. About 50 million people died from this flu. There was no cure made for it.

    The 20s were full of jazz music and cultural changes. Changes like style, music and social norms. Many things changed during this time. People gained more access to affording the lifestyle they wanted. For the first time women were given their rights to vote. New technology like the first car was built by Henry Ford, also the radio was a new thing.

    In this era, the US prohibited the sale of alcohol. This was to protect families from "scrounge of drunkenness". This ban only made things worse with corruption, and violence.The Great depression ended this era. This ended on December 5th, 1933

    The stock arket crash caused everyone to lose their life savings. 11,000 banks crashed leaving the people with absolutley no money. Millions of people were out of work. The main causes were bank loans, high interest rates, and overinflated shares. Thousands died from starvation. 60 illion people suffered from the depression. This lasted until 1940 when WW2 started.

    The war started in Europe when Germany invaded Poland in 1939. Following, the UK and France declared war on Germany. 75 million people died from this war. this is the deadliest war known to man. It ended in 1945 due to Japan surrendering.
  • The Holocaust

    The Holocaust was a mass murder of millions of European Jews by the Nazis. Germany invaded the Soviet Union. Hitler then declared a war on Germany. Within months millions of Jews were imprisoned in Poland. These Jews were then taken to Concentration camps and gassed. 6 Million Jews were murdered by Adolf Hitler. The Russians invaded 10 camps. The Holocaust ended in 1945.
  • Pearl Harbor.

    Pearl Harbor.
    Pear harbor was a surprise attack on the naval base in Hawaii by the Japanese Navy. The Japanese sent 8 bombs to destroy Pearl Harbor. The entire attack took one hour and fifteen minutes. 2,400 people died from Pearl Harbor. The strike consisted of 353 japanese aircraft. Thise includes 40 torpedo planes, 103 level bombers, 131 dive-bombers, and 79 fighters. The also used in the strike two heavy cruisers, 35 submarines, two light cruisers, nine oilers, two
    battleships, and 11 destroyers.

    Malcom X delivered a speech on how the people of color are being mistreated. Malcom was known for speaking out and representing how they felt during the Civil Rights movement. He explains how they all need to come together to fight the enemy.
  • Martin Luther King Speech

    Martin Luthers "I have a dream " speech was based on the want for equality. This happened during the March on washington. This speech influenced the world like no other. It influenced the government to take action.This helped move the Civil rights movement in the 1900s.
  • Fannie Lou Testimony

    Fannie Lou was a woman who was kicked off her plantation. She then goes to Testimony to explain what happened and the president tries to hide her. He goes to celebrate a 9 month anniversary since Kennedy's passing. He shields her testimony from the public.
