The ‘Night of Broken Glass’
On the night of November 9, 1938, the Nazi authorities coordinated a wave of Jewish violence in Nazi Germany. This became known as the "Night of Broken Glass." It was named for the shattered glass from store windows that littered the streets after the violence. -

The Australia’s Pearl Harbour in Darwin was bombed by aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy which began on 19 February 1942, killing more than 230 people and destroying many buildings and ships. -

As Soviet forces near his bunker in central Berlin on April 30, 1945, Adolf Hitler commits suicide as berlin falls to the Soviets within days. -
Use of the Atomic Bomb
During World War II on Augest 6, 1945 America bombed the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that marked the first use of atomic weapons in war. Tens of thousands were killed from the explosions and many more would later die to radiation poisoning. -
End of WW2
Truman announced Japan's surrender and the end of World War II. The news spread quickly and celebrations erupted across the United States. On September 2, 1945, formal surrender documents were signed aboard the USS Missouri.
