    Democritus (400 B.C.)

    Democritus (400 B.C.)
Democritus was the first to come up with an atomic theory, he believed that everything is made of atoms. After studying and experimenting under his teacher Leucippus he came up with this theory. He believed that the atoms differed in shape and size. Coffey, Jerry. "Democritus Atom." Universe Today. Fraser Cain, 22 Mar. 2010. Web. 20 Feb. 2015.
  • Dalton

    Dalton
Dalton said that there were five laws of the atomic theory, the laws are as follows:
    1. Elements consist of atoms. 2. Atoms, in one elemet, are all the same. 3. Atoms differ by their weight. 4. Atoms come together to form compounds. 5. Atoms csn neither be created or destroyed.
Dalton experimented and eventually came up with what is now called, 'Dalton's Atomic Theory." Williams, Matt. "John Dalton's Atomic Model." Universe Today. Fraser Cain, 1 Dec. 2014. Web. 20 Feb. 2015.
  • Thomson

    Thomson
Thomson was the ffirst perso to discover the electon, he used mutltiple experiments using a tube. He proved that cathode rays were negatively charged. By proving this, he discovered the electron. His name for the model is, "Thomson's Plum Pudding Model." Blamire, John. "Discovery of Electrons." Brooklyn.cuny.edu. N.p., 2003. Web. 23 Feb. 2015.
  • Rutherford

    Rutherford
He said that protons were contained in the nucleus and the electrons orbited around the nucleus. He also discovered that some Alpha particles bounced back by using the Gold Foil experiment .This lead Rutherford to discover the nucleus. Leon, N. "Rutherford's Planetary Model of the Atom." Http://www.iun.edu/~cpanhd/C101webnotes/modern-atomic-theory/rutherford-model.html. N.p., n.d. Web. 20 Feb. 2015.
  • Bohr

    Bohr
Bohr believed that electrons were in set orbits around the nucleus. Experimenting his theory, he discovered that electrons did exist on "set orbits" around the nucleus. "Rutherford and Bohr Describe Atomic Structure." PBS. PBS, n.d. Web. 24 Feb. 2015.
  • Heisenberg and Schrodinger

    Heisenberg and Schrodinger
They said you could'nt measure more than one property of a particle, you could only work with the probability of math formulas. Heisenberg used light/radiation for his discovery.Schrodinger said that electrons really existed on waves and that electrons aren't really moving in cirlces on orbits. Schrodinger used his Energy Level experiment. "Schrödinger's Atom." Schrödinger's Atom. N.p., n.d. Web. 25 Feb. 2015
