    Democritus

    Democritus
    Inventor- Democritus
Pro- He introduced the idea that thew atom as the smallest particel of an element.
Con- He didn't know about negatie and positive energy.
  • John Dalton

    John Dalton
    Invented- John Dalton
Pro- Inferred that atoms have ceartain characteristics, for example:
    1. Elements are made of extremely small particles called atoms
    2. Atoms of a given element are identical in size, mass, and other properties; atoms of differen't elements differ in size, mass, and other properties.
Con- We know now that atoms aren't a single solid, indestructable ball.
  • J. J. Thomson

    J. J. Thomson
Pro- Atoms contain positively and negatively charged particles.
Con- Thomson's model is drawn incorrectly because the negative particles are imbedded in the surface of tthe positive sphere.
  • Ernest Rutherford's Atomic Theory

    Ernest Rutherford's Atomic Theory
    Inventor- Ernest Rutherford
Pro- Rutherford descoverd that an atom did not have specific orbits of electrons, but more random and spread out.
Con- The modern model of an atom is much differen't from Rutherford's model, as we know now that an atom consists of proton snad neutrons in a nucleus sourounded by negativly charged eletrons.
  • Niels Bohr

    Niels Bohr
    Inventor- Niels Bohr
Pro- Bohr descovered that electrons have specific orbits around the nucleus.
Con- Bohr did not yet know about neutrons thus, his model was later proven wrong.
  • Wermer Heisenberg's Uncertainly Principle

    Wermer Heisenberg's Uncertainly Principle
    Inventor- Wermer Heisenberg
Pro- describing how the quantum junmps occur. It did so interpreting the physical properties of particles as matrices that evolve in time.
Con- The uncertainly principle of quantum mechanics is intuitive to a certain extent and is only one of a few primary foundation principles of Quantum Theory. Myabe its the wording and formulation may need to be changed in the future.
  • Erwin Schrodinger Atomic Theory

    Erwin Schrodinger Atomic Theory
    Inventor Erwin Schrodinger
Pro- The advantage of this model is that it consists of mathematical equations known as wave functions that satisfy the requirements placed on the behavior of electrons.
Con- The disadvantage is that it is difficult to imagine a physical model of electrons as waves.
  • James Chadwick

    James Chadwick
    Inventor- James Chadwick
    Pro- Descovered Neutron
Con- James Chadwick did not have the technologies that we have today.
