Was the one who made the cathod ray tube out of vacume parts. Was uncertain what it was. Later was used in Thomsons ecperiment.

J.J. Thompson messed with the cathod ray tube by having the beam interact with eletric and magnitic fields. Thompson was able to determine the mass ratio for an election. With that, they were able to determine it was very very small. Thomson also made the plum pudding experiment, where the electrons are the choclate chips (and negivialy charged) and the icecream is the positive.
