Aristotle BC
- He did not believe in the atom theory. He thought that all materials on Earth were not made of atoms, but of the four elements, Earth, Fire, Water, and Air.

Democritus BC
- He discovered the theory's atom, these he asserted to be tiny particles, imperceptibleto the senses, composed of exactly the same matter but different in size, shape, and weight.
- They were underuved, indivisiblem and indestructible.
- He used the mircoscope method to find this out
-
Dalton
- He said that compound are formed by a combination of two or more diferrent kinds of atoms.
- All atoms are given element identialin mass and properties.
- His model was the billiard ball. HISTORY OF THE ATOM FROM DEMOCRITUS TO BOHR AND SCHRÖDINGER." HISTORY OF THE ATOM FROM DEMOCRITUS TO BOHR AND SCHRÖDINGER. N.p., n.d. Web. 18 Feb. 2014.

Thomson
- He discovered electron
- Believe that an atom consists of a sphere fo positive charge with negatively charged electrion embedded in it.
- The positive and negative charges in an atom are equal in magnitude. "The Plum Pudding"
-
Rutherford
- Electrons orbited around a dense localised central region of positvie charge.
- He realized that the atom must have almost all of its mass concentrated at its center, in a nucleus, with the vast majority of the atom consting chielty of empty space.
-
Bohr
- Orbit the nucleus without losing energy
- Electrons with low energy would orbit closer to the nucleus while electrons with high energy orbit further from the nucleus. Could move only in fixed orbits of specific energies. Heisenberg and Schorodinger
- Heisenburg discovered the Quantum Theory while Schrodinger built on the theory with creating quantum numbers.
- Heisenberg created the uncertainty principle which means it is not possible to locate and know the speed of an electron simultaneously. He used Broglie's hypothesis for this.Schrodinger and Heisenberg both contributed to the model of the atom used today. "HISTORY OF THE ATOM FROM DEMOCRITUS TO BOHR AND SCHRÖDINGER."
