Poincaré’s solution to the “three-body problem”, using a series of approximations of the orbits won him the prize, awarded by the King of Sweden.
After receiving the award, he realized that he had actually made a mistake, and that his simplifications did not indicate a stable orbit after all. In fact, even a very small change in his initial conditions would lead to vastly different orbits. This discovery, born from an error, led indirectly to what we now know as Chaos Theory. Science and Hypothesis
This books great circulation was partly owed to the content being readable to non-specialists. The challenging of logic as the best way to understand nature, was also a reason for its success. "It is by logic that we prove, but by intuition that we discover. To know how to criticize is good, to know how to create is better."- Henry Poincare (Heinzmann and Stump) -
Death
He is buried in the Montparnasse cemetery, Paris. Leaving a legacy of creative discover, polymath, and philosopher. Ponicares discovers are is still to be discussed to day, with new sciences emerging and taking the world of intuition for granted, Henry Poincare's Philosophy should be utilized as a guide through the unknown, so our eyes may adjust to the darkness, instead of blindly hitting nature with cold tools, like a machine with, 'tin ears and glass eyes'.
