In the year 2002 Greta graduates from high school. She graduates from St. Francis Catholic High School in Sacramento, California. -
In 2006 Greta wanted to go to New York intending to complete a degree in musical theatre but instead graduated from Barnard College majoring in English and Philosophy. -
In 2006 Greta got the role that helped launch her career. She stared in a low budget movie called Lol, playing a character named Greta, which released on August 23, 2006. -
After starring in Joe Swanberg's "Lol" film she continued to appear in many of his works. In 2008 personally codirected, cowrote, and coproduced a film called Nights and Weekends. -

Greta's first big smash as a director wasn't until she worked on the indie film Lady Bird in 2017. She says that this film is semi-autobiographical which ended up landing her to be nominated for best picture, Director and original screenplay. -
In 2018 Greta Gerwig was nominated for two awards for the film "Lady Bird" but didn't win either of those awards. Those awards being Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. -
In March of 2019 Greta Gerwig is introduced to Motherhood, giving birth to her first son with Noah Baumbach who they named Harold. Later down the line in 2023 Harold is given a brother but his brother's name hasn't been leaked out into the public. -
In 2019 Greta was nominated for two Critics Choice awards for the movie Little Women. She didn't win for Best Director but she did win for Best Adapted Screenplay. -
Greta isn't just a director and actor, she's also a writer and in an interview with Backstage Greta Gerwig reveals her inspiration for writing. She says it comes with a lot of self doubts but she often begins with a flash of inspiration from random things in her life, like a conversation she overhears on the bus. -
Greta was supposed to be join the cast and crew for the spinoff of "How I met your Mother" which is titled "How I met your Dad". She signed on to be an actor and writer but in the end the pilot was never taken to series. -
In July of 2023 Greta has an interview with Guardian and in that interview she spoke upon her being diagnosed with ADHD. -
In 2023 the movie Barbie, which she directed and cowrote, she was nominated for three awards. She lost two (best director and best screenplay) but won Cinematic Box Office Achievement. -
Usually in Hollywood most top-grossing hit movies of the year would be co-directed by men. But with Barbie starring Margot Robbie and directed and co-written by Greta Gerwig it was different. Barbie broke many records with its release which includes becoming the highest-grossing movie ever directed solely by a woman. -
On December 20th, 2023 at The New York City Hall Greta got married to Noah Baumbach, her cowriter on their project "Barbie" which released earlier in the same year. They have been together for twelve years at the time and have birthed two boys together, now living in Manhattan. -
In 2024 Greta Gerwig was selected as the years Jury President, resulting in her being Honored. -
As for right now we do know that a film is in the works for the future for Greta. That film is currently set at being released some time next year in 2026. Greta is the director of this film, that film being Narnia: The Magicians Nephew
