    The Palace of Versailles began being built in 1631 by King Louis XIV. The Palace would go through expansions until 1715.

  • When King Louis moved the capital of France from Paris to Versailles

    Louis XIV hoped to get more control of the government from the nobility and to move away from the people of Paris.

  • When King Louis XVI married Marie Antoinette

    In 1770, King Louis XVI, at the age of 15, married Marie Antoniette, who was 14 at the time. This made her the Queen of France.
