  • Battle of Lexington & Concord

    In this first battle of the American Revolution, Massachusetts colonists disobeyed British authorities, they outnumbered and outfought the Redcoats, and began on a lengthy war to earn their independence
  • French India War

    France and Great Britain were fighting for control of the Ohio river valley in North America. Great Britain won the war but went into a great debt fighting it.
  • Stamp act

    The British Parliament passed the Stamp Act to help pay for British troops stationed in the colonies during the Seven Years War. The colonists had to pay a tax on forms of papers and documents. It was a direct tax forced by the British government.
  • Boston Massacre

    The arrival of troops in Boston provoked conflict between citizens and soldiers.A group of soldiers surrounded by a crowd of people opened fire killing three Americans and wounding two more.
  • Boston Tea Party & Intolerable Acts

    When British tea ships arrived in Boston harbor many citizens wanted the tea sent back to England without having to pay taxes. The royal governor insisted on they pay all taxes. One night a group of men disguised as Indians boarded the ships and dumped all the tea in the harbor.
  • Battles of Trenton and Princeton

    Washington launched a surprise attack on a British fortification at Trenton New Jersey that was organized by Hessian soldiers. After one hour of fighting the Hessians surrendered and only five American soldiers were killed.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The treaty of Paris ended the American Revolution and formally recognized the United States as an independent nation
