    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War ended with the Treaty of Paris. This resulted in France losing most of its North American territories. Great Britain gained lots of territorial control in North America which allowed them to expand their empire. This resulted in a lot of the following Acts because Britain wanted power over other territories.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act put taxes on sugar and other imported goods.
    This made the colonists express taxation without representation.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act said that all printed material had to have a stamp which was not free.
    This created the stamp act congress which boycotted British goods.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    This act said that the British colonies have the right to tax whenever they feel like it.
    This made the American Colonists alarmed because they felt it was threatening their autonomy.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    This act created a new board of customs to stop smuggling.
    This created another Boycott where women encouraged home spun clothes to replace British ones.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act offered tax exemptions and rebates for tea coming in from the British East India trading company. Which allowed them to dump cheap tea on the colonies which lowered the price of tea.
    This made the colonists angry on principles because tea was so popular people were upset that the British were allowed to tax a universal product.
  • The Revolutionary War

    The Revolutionary War
    All of the acts that Britain proposed to the Americas was one of the main causes that started the Revolutionary War. The escalated tensions created this war because America had enough of being taxed without representation.
