It recommended that, to avoid a rebellion and possible annexation, American immigration be halted, more Mexican and European settlers be sent, military bases be established, trade ties be strengthened, and slavery be abolished. Law of Abril 6, 1830

The Law of April 6, 1830, banned further immigration from the United States to Texas, canceled many existing settlement contracts, and placed restrictions on colonists already in Texas. It also increased tariffs on U.S. imports and was designed to encourage Mexican citizens to settle in Texas. This law heightened tensions and resentment among Anglo settlers, directly contributing to events that led to the Texas Revolution.

    Turtle Bayou resolutions

The Turtle Bayou Resolutions were an 1832 document declaring the loyalty of Texas settlers to General Santa Anna and the Mexican Constitution of 1824, in protest against the actions of Mexican commander John Davis Bradburn and the centralist government of President Bustamante. This document was not seen as an act of rebellion against Mexico, but rather as a defense of constitutional rights and civil liberties.
