- Anankos dragon form attacks the kingdom of Valla.
- Prince Kushal remains behind, vowing to buy as much time as possible for Arete, Azura, and Eriene to escape to the surface. He is presumed to be one of the many casualties.
- Due to the chaos, Arete and Eriene are separated in the lake. Arete ends up in the West, while Eriene reappears in Hoshido.

- Once again taken into Sumeragi's castle, the two briefly catch up.
- Sumeragi is able to figure out that Eriene is pregnant. She explains what she can about the child's father.
- In the end, Sumeragi offers to marry her and claim the child as his. He's been a widower for a few years they could claim Eriene just barely told him about the pregnancy.
- Seeking the protection she thinks he can offer, Eriene agrees to the marriage.

- Upon claiming Mikoto's (Eirene's) unborn child as his own, the two are married while she is still early in the pregnancy.
- That night Sumeragi assures her that he won't touch her unless she asks him to.

Vaiana, daughter of Anankos, is born to Eirene, then known as Mikoto. Vaiana is assumed to be Sumeragi's daughter.

- Over the years Mikoto watched Sumeragi be a father to Vaiana in every way but blood.
- She couldn't help but fall in love with him when he's been nothing but open and honest with her. Something she can't help but compare with Anankos.
- Mikoto confesses that she loves him, and asks Sumeragi to bed her that night.
- They discover a few weeks later that Mikoto is pregnant.

- With her death, Garon's grief turns into madness.

- On the castle causeway, Azura is cornered by one of her step-sisters and a gaggle of her friends.
- Their bullying results in Azura falling off the causeway. Though she survives, she's critically injured. The wound leaves a scar that she carries for the rest of her life.
- While Azura is recovering, the step-sister is found dead, having fallen off the causeway herself. Or rather, she was shoved by Princess Camilla.

- In the early hours of the morning, Garon ushered his attack on Hoshido's forces.
- Ryoma, Hinoka and Vaiana try to escape in the night, but Vaiana is separated from them.
- She's found by Garon, but defended by Sumeragi before anything can happen to her. Vaiana witnesses her father's death and is taken to Nohr.

- Lady Eadlyn is found dead in her rooms with a large gash on her back. It was deducted to be from an axe strike.
- As Princess Camilla favored the axe many believe she killed her own mother.
- The princess never confirmed, nor denied this.

Lilith is 'born' to the dragon Anankos to carry out his will for him. -
- In a tournament with the possibility of serving Nohr's royal family on the line, three individuals, Selene, Laslow, and Odin quickly become the crowd favorites.
- However, no one can seem to find any history on the three. It is suspected that Laslow may be half-Hoshidan, but that's all.
- By the tournament's end, Laslow starts serving Xander, Selene starts serving Camilla, and Odin starts serving a begrudging Leo.

- The human Anankos seeks the help of three warrior from a far-off land. He explains his history to them, and are able to sympathize.
- The human Anankos meets Lilith, who tells them that Vaiana has been in Nohr for years.
- The warrior go off to help Anankos' daughter, Vaiana.
- After the human half of her father shows her kindness, Lilith can't bring herself to harm him. The human half takes Lilith's punishment, becoming a whole being again.
- Lilith decides to go to Nohr to help her sister.

After Lilith's betrayal, Anankos creates his son, Zael as a replacement for Lilith. -
- Finally permitted to leave the tower, Vaiana is instructed by Garon to kill two prisoner's from a recent skrimage.
- Kaze recognizes the name Vaiana.
- Unable to kill them, Vaiana ends up forcing Leo to step in. He doesn't kill them but he does put on an act that satisfies Garon.
- Vaiana and Xander set the prisoners free.
- Kaze asks Rinkah to keep an eye on Vaiana as he forces a march back to Hoshido to inform Mikoto and Ryoma.

- Vaiana turns twenty. And her siblings have come to visit.
- She's gifted new armor.
- To her surprise, King Garon has decided to stop by. Acknowledging that Vaiana is a grown woman, promises her that she'll be leaving the tower soon.
- In Hoshido Empress Mikoto, Ryoma, Hinoka, Takumi, and Sakura have a dinner of Vaiana's favorite food as a child.
