    Settlement of Jamestown, VA

    Jamestown Virginia was established on May 14, 1607 by the Virginia Company. This historic settlement was named in honor of King James I, who was the reigning monarch at the time. Initially, Jamestown was home to around 104 settlers.

    Settlement of Plymouth Colony by the Pilgrims

    This settlement was founded by pilgrim Fathers. About 100 members of the English Separatist Church sailed to North America in search of religious freedom. The large group sailed on the Mayflower and also participated in North America's first Thanksgiving.

    A tax imposed on the colonies by Great Britain that angered colonists because their misrepresentation.

    This was was the conflict between North America and Great Britain in which North America fought for its independence. This war resulted in the creation of The United States of America.

    An early Revolutionary War battle that took place near Boston, MA. The British won this battle but not without loss, their loss game the Americans confidence in the war.

    Signing of The Declaration of Independence

    This legal declaration officially declared that the American colonies were independent from the rule of Great Britain.

    Battle of Yorktown

    The final battle of the Revolutionary War in which the British General Cornwallis surrendered to American and French forces
  • The U.S. Constitution

    The U.S. constitution was enacted to establish a federal framework for the new American government
  • The Bill of Rights

    The Bill of Rights

    The first ten amendments added to the Constitution that guaranteed fundamental rights like the rights to speech, religion, and assembly.
  • Creation of the Cotton Gin

    Creation of the Cotton Gin

    The cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney and revolutionized the cotton harvesting process by separating the seeds faster.
