    In 1917 Smith Hughes Act established funding for vocational agriculture in high school.
  • 1920 Virginia

    1920 Virginia was the first state to have Future Farmers clubs for boys.
  • 1926 First Convention

    Held at the American Royal in Kansas City, First National Congress of Vocational Agriculture Students and National Livestock Judging Contest.
  • 1928 National Orginazation

    In 1928 FFA became a national orginazation. A network of teachers guided the establishedment of FFA as a team effort.
  • 1929 FFA Colors

    1929 FFA Colors
    in 1929 the FFA came into agreement to have the colors as national blue and corn gold.
  • 1935 NFA

    In 1935 New Farmers Of America was formed for black students in the south.
  • 1935 NCRS

    1935 NCRS
    The Soil Conservation Service was in charge of 500 Civilian Conservation Corps camps between 1933 and 1942. The primary purpose of these camps was erosion control.[7]
  • 1940's Members

    1940's Members
    Time to celebrate because 12,500 members attended the convention in '46; National Band performs and National FFA week in '47; and National FFA Chorus performs '48. Also a recorder setting year, members increased 238,269 to 260,300, 20th convention, and attendance was so high they had to use Army cots and were set up in convention hall.

    Granted federal charter to FFA. Public law 740 giving FFA a Federal Charter. Staff memebers within U.S. Department server as the National FFA Advisor.
  • 1965 FFA and NFA merged

    1965 FFA and NFA merged
    In 1965 Future Farmers Of America (FFA), and New Farmers Of America (NFA) merged.
  • 1969 Women Joined FFA

    1969 Women Joined FFA
    In 1969 women were allowed to join the FFA programs.
  • 1988 Name Change

    1988 Name Change
    In 1988, name changed from Future Farmers Of America to National FFA orginization to reflect the growing diversity in the agriculture industry.
  • 2012 National Convention

    2012 National Convention
    In 2012, FFA national convention completes 7 year run in Indianapolis and returns to Louisville, Kentucky in 2013 for 3 years.
