The first National FFA Convention was held, marking the founding of FFA. It was held in Kansas City at the Baltimore Hotel. 33 young men represented 18 states.

Following the passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1964 and the de-segregation of schools, FFA and NFA merged to become the largest organization for young men taking Ag classes.

FFA voted to allow girls membership to FFA, previously they were only allowed to be FFA Sweethearts. With membership they were allowed to vote at convention, run for office and compete at CDE/LDE competitions.

FFA Changed it's name from FFA to the National FFA Organization to highlight the growth and diversity of Agriculture.
