  • Industry vs Inferiority

    Industry vs Inferiority

At age 12, I discovered my love for playing volleyball. At my middle school volleyball tryouts, I was placed on the varsity team after working really hard before tryouts. I got recognition and rewarded for my talent and hard work. My coach gave me feedback on my skills, which helped me get better during the season (industry). Since I was so young, I looked up to older girls who played, and they were way better than me. I felt inferior to them, based on skills. Luckily this didn't stop me!
  • Identity vs Role Confusion

    Identity vs Role Confusion

During my high school years, ages 14-18, I was finding my place in society and life. Volleyball was a big part of my life in high school. It was my identity in school, I was known for volleyball. My first few years on varsity, I was not the team captain. I learned my place because of the playing time each girl got. I didn't have the most playing time, so it wouldn't be right to make me captain (role confusion). Later, I became captain and I found my place being a leader (identity).
  • Intimacy vs isolation

    Intimacy vs isolation

At age 20, I have seen old friendships from high school have fallen off, not in a bad way, just let go. I have a stable and happy relationship (intimacy). He is my best friend and life partner. I believe that without him, I would be lonely and sad (isolation). I stay with him because I love him and choose him everyday. We are not lonely when we are together. We are still growing as people, but we are happy to learn and grow together.
