  • Green Revolution

    The Green Revolution was a period in the mid 20th century that marked a hug spike in innovation in terms of crop yield. Practices like crossbreeding, selective breeding, pesticides, and fertilizer greatly increased crop yield which helped to feed many regions and developing countries. Concerns also arose about pollution due to these practices.
  • David Attenborough

    David Attenborough was a biologist and narrorator of natural documentaries for many years. His work as provided a different way for people to get inspired about learning about and protecting the environment.
  • Earth Day

    Earth day is a recurring holiday created to strengthen awareness on conservation and environmental issues
  • Love Canal

    The love canal became a dumping ground and later a place of disposal for toxic waste. This waste was not disposed of properly and lead to numerous adverse health conditions such as leukemia. This event represented a lack of concern and a failure to excerise caution which serves as a reminder to prevent future envionmental carelessness
  • Chernobyl

    The Chernobyl disaster was a sudden meltdown at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant that occurred in modern day Ukraine. The accident has not only negatively affected the surrounding area but has harmed the reputation of nuclear energy.
  • Exxon Valdez

    The Exxon Valdez was an oil tanker that ran aground on the coast of Alaska. This resulted in over 11 million gallons of crude oil spilling into the Alaskan coastline. Due to the spill numerous regulations have been put in place to prevent further oil pollution.
  • Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill

    The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill was a catastrophic explosion of the oil rig that released the largest about of oil and natural gas in history. The spill serverley harmed all marine ecosystems around the rig. The explosion hightend attention to saftey and precautions of oil rigs.
  • Fukishima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster

    The Fukishima nuclear disaster was directly caused by an earthquake as well as a tsunami which damaged almost all of its backup generators. This disaster is another example of nuclear accidents that harm the public oppinion of nuclear energy.
  • Breaking Boundaries: The Science of Our Planet

    This is a documentary about earths biodivirsity and and what a collapse might look like. Documentaries loke this raise awareness and cause people to think deliberately about serious issues.
