CITES is an international agreement aimed to ensure that international trade does not effect species survival in the wild. This is regulated by enforcing permits and certificates on a list of endangered species. -
Resource Conservation and Recover Act
This act regulates the disposal of hazardous waste. It gives the EPA the right to regulate hazardous waste all the way from generation to disposal. This includes but is not limited to transportation, treatment, and storage. -
Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation Liability Act (US)
This act authorizes the EPA to investigate and clean up hazardous waste sites that pose a risk to public health. The EPA will find groups that caused the damage and ensure that they pay for the clean up efforts. -
Montreal Protocol (INT)
This is an agreement to phase out the production of ozone depleting substances. This was agreed upon by all countries, successfully protecting the ozone layer. -
Kyoto Protocol (INT)
The Kyoto Protocol was an international treaty aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Industrialized countries were to lower the greenhouse gas emissions 52% from the 1990 levels from the years 2008-2012.
