After his parents died, Edgar Allan Poe was taken in by John Allan and his wife Frances. They became his foster parents but never fully adopted him.

Sometime during 1811 Edgar Allan Poe's Mother died of Tuberculosis. This will have a huge impact on his life later on. He was around three when his dad abanded them and shortly after is when his mother died.
