Theodor Seuss Geisel was born to Theodor R. and Henrietta Seuss Geisel. They lived in a small house just down the street from his fathers brewery. As a child, Theodor was encouraged by his parents to express himself in creative ways such as drawing on the walls of his home. He was born into a german immigrant family.

Between 1921 and 1925 Ted Geisel attended school at Dartmouth. While at Dartmouth Ted becomes editor of his school paper and is later relieved of this job due to being caught throwing a drinking party on campus. He later earns his Bachelors Degree. He went to school to become a college proffesor.

On November 29th, 1927 Theodor Geisel married Helen Palmer near their home. In 1927 he also sells his first cartoon to the Saturday Evening Post.

On December 21st, 1937, Dr. Seuss Publishes his first book, 'To Think That I saw it on Mulberry Street' with the Vangaurd press. The publishing of this book launched his career in childrens writing.

In 1939 Dr. Seuss switches publishers. He moves to Random House Publishing. His first two books written for Random House titled 'The Seven Lady Godivas' and 'The Kings Stilts' were both a bust.

In 1940 Random house and Dr. Seuss published 'Horton Hatches the Egg'. This was the first Dr. Seuss story to teach children a lesson.

In 1943-1946 (the exact date is unknown) Ted Geisel Started making educational films for the US Army Signal Corpse.He created a video about 'Your job in Germany' and titled it "Hitler Lives". Hitler Lives earned an academy award.

On October 12, 1950, Dr. Seuss publishes 'If I Ran the Zoo' with Random House. This book was later named a Caldecott Honor Book.

On October 23, 1952, The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T (Dr. Seuss' first movie) is released in theaters. After seeing the movie, Ted realizes that it was not portrayed in the way he wished. He vowed to never make another movie due to this dissapointment.

In August of 1954, Dr. Seuss and Random House publish 'Horton Hears A Who'. Horton Hears A Who, a somewhat sequel to Horton Hatches The Egg, becomes a huge hit with young readers. It is later turned in to a succesful motion picture.

In 1956 Dr. Seuss and Random House published 'If I Ran The Circus'. This was a book similar to 'If I Ran the Zoo'. In this year Ted Geisel also recieved his first honorary doctorate from Dartmouth.

On December 22, 1958, The Cat in The Hat is published by Dr. Seuss and Random House. This book will later turn out to be his biggest hit. The Cat in the Hat was preceeded by How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and followed by Yertle the Turtle. How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is later turned into a film.

In 1960 Dr. Seuss and Random House publish two hits; Green Eggs and Ham and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. Both of these books turn out to be very sucessful. -
In 1961 Dr. Seuss and Random House publish the hit book 'The Sneetches' for children. In this year, Theodor also publishes 'Apples Up On Top!' under the name Theo. LeSieg.

In 1967, the same year as his wifes death, Dr. Seuss and Random House publish 'The Cat in the Hat Song Book'. It is full of catchy tunes for children.

On October 23, 1967, Helen Palmer (Theodors wife) commits suicide. She leaves a note to Ted stating the the love between them had ceased and how she had overdosed on pills. She was found dead in the house the next morning.

On August 5th, 1968, only a year after his wifes death, Ted remarries. He marries a family friend named Audrey Stone Diamond.

In 1971, DR. Seuss received a Peabody Award for his television speacial 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!'. He received the same award for his other television special 'Horton Hears a Who!'

In 1971 Dr. Seuss and Random house publish The Lorax. The Lorax is later turned into a motion picture.

In 1977, Dr. Seuss recieved an Emmy award for 'Halloween is Grinch Night'. He also recieved another honorary doctorate from Lake Forest College in this year.

On January 12, 1984, Dr. Seuss and Random House published 'The Butter Battle Book'. This book caused a stir of great controversy. Later, he recieves a Pulitzer prize for his contribution to childrens literature.

In 1985 Theodor Geisel Recieves another honorary doctorate, this time from Princeton University. This would be his third honorary doctorate.

On January 22, 1990, Dr. Seuss and Random House publish 'Oh, the Places You'll Go!'. A quote from this book is “You're off to Great Places!

On September 24, 1991, Theodor Seuss Geisel dies. He is dead at the age of eighty seven. Dr. Seuss died a hero of childrens literature.

On January 13, 1996, Dr. Seuss and Random House publish 'A Hatful of Seuss'. This becomes part of 'Another Collection of Classic Dr. Seuss' books.
