    Black Lives Matter Protests
    The Conflict: Racial Justice VS. Police Brutality Public outcry for racial justice following George Floyd's death with a focus on police brutality. Platforms Used: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok. Tactics: People used hashtags similar to #BlackLivesMatter to bring attention to racial injustice in the United States and even worldwide. Tiktok and Instagram had strong effects.
  • Cuban Protests

    Cuban Protests
    The Conflict: Cuban citixens VS. Cuban government. Economic struggles and oppression by the government were being protested. Platforms Used: WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram. The protesters used WhatsApp to secretly setup protests and they used Facebook and Instagram to record videos of the protests. The government tried to shut down internet access, but social media helped to spread this oppression to the world.

    The Conflict: Russia government VS. Ukraine government. Platforms Used: Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok. Tactics: Ukraine citizens used social media to communicate with the world and share experiences or updates on the attacks. These platforms played a huge role in spreading awareness about the death toll and violence.

    The Conflict: Economic inequality and anti-police violence VS. France government Platforms Used: Tiktok, Snapchat, Facebook Tactics: Activists used Tiktok and Snapchat to record and share experiences and set up protests. Mainly used to spread information. Tiktok was a powerhouse here.

    The Conflict: Israel government VS Hamas. Platforms Used: Tiktok, Youtube, Twitter Tactics: Both sides were using social media to spread misinformation and/or cover up their actions. Lots of fake videos were spread on a global level.

    The Conflict: Pro-Palestine citizens VS. Their governments People globally (but namely in the United States) protested against their own governments funding and supporting Israel throught the ongoing genocide of Palestinian people. Platforms Used: Instagram, TikTok, Twitter Tactics: Activists used Instagram and Tiktok to gain funding for displaced Palestinian families, to spread awareness and engagement with the issue, and to setup protests.
