The first edition of this book profoundly challenged and divided students of philosophy, sociology, and the history of science when it was published in 1976.

Bloor writes and publishes a book called "The Strong Programme". In this book, he talks about the four governing tenets which are casualty, impartiality, symmetry, and reflexibility. These are what he considers the the strong programme in the society of knowledge. This book ultimately helped shape and form this new type of sociology.
  • Strong Program

During this period, Bloor writes a piece in defense of his Strong Programme where he explains the view as ‘Bartlett's Law’ and describes the law directs the function of the individual’s memory. He expressed his passion in this topic as he tries to prove how the law can affect someone's way of thinking.
