Law allowed company a virtual monopoly, or sole control of trade for tea in America. Company sell tea directly to shopkeepers and bypass colonial merchants who normally distributed tea. Called for new boycott, and colonists vowed to stop East India company's ships from unloading.

Harsh laws were intended to punish people of Massachusetts for their resistance to British law. Closed Boston Harbor until Massachusetts colonists paid for ruined tea, prevented arrival of food and other supplies that normally came by ship, took away certian rights.

Quebec Act set up government for Quebec, and gave Quebec area west of Appalachians and north of Ohio River. Colonists expressed their feelings in their name for new laws the Intolerable Acts.
