  • Bataan Death March

    Bataan Death March
    The Bataan Death March was the forcible transfer, by the Imperial Japanese Army, of 60-80,000 Filipino and American prisoners of war to Camp O'Donnel, of which 100-650 of the American prisoners died before reaching the camp. This took place after the three month long Battle of Bataan in the Philippines. The death march was 80 miles long along with physical abuse and murder which was later judged to be a Japanese war crime.
  • Stalingrad

    Stalingrad
    Nazi Germany fought the Soviet Union for control of the city Stalingrad, in the southwestern Soviet Union. It is among the bloodiest battles in history and the heavy losses inflicted on the German army made it a turning point in the war. The war lasted until February 2nd 1943
  • D-Day (Operation Overlord)

    D-Day (Operation Overlord)
    Also known as the Battle of Normandy, D-Day was the invasion of German-occupied western Europe by the Allied forces. This major operation involved 12,000 plane-airborne assault and an amphibious assault with 7,000 vessels. It was a huge invasion with 160,000 troops crossing the English channel all on June 6th. Countries that were involved included, Canada, the UK, United States, the Free-French army, Poland, Belgium, Greece, and the Netherlands. This battle lasted over two-months.
  • Saipan

    Saipan
    This battle was during the Pacific Campain of World War II. U.S Marines attacked the well defended and prepared beaches of the strategic Japanese Empire on the island of Saipan. The goal was to gain a crucial air base from which U.S. could launch it's new long-range B-29 bombers directly at Japan's home islands. After Japanese withdrew further north the most brutal and prolonged fighting happend aroun Mount Tapotchau which gave it the nick-name death valley where Japanese were defeated.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    Also known as the Ardennes Counteroffensive or the Von Rundstedt Offensive to the germans, this battle took place in the dense forests of Ardennes mountain region of Wallonia in Belgium. Shortly after the D-Day invasion, the German army launched this battle inteded to cut through the Allied forcers to turn the tide of the war back into Hitlers favor. With The US First army attacking from the north and The US Third army attacking from the south, German troops withdrew January 85h 1945.
  • Iwo Jima

    Iwo Jima
    Iwo Jima was an important battle in which United States Armed Forces fought to capture the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese Empire. The goal was to capture the whole island including it's three airfields, this battle only lasting a month contained some of the fiercest and bloodiest warfare of the War in the Pacific of WWII. This battle was the sight of the famous picture taken of troops raising the American flag.
