    This is the time period in which many geneticists were excuted or sent to labor camps. In 1948 genetics were baned from the Soviet Union. The ban was waived mid-1960's. Lysenkoism caused long term harm on the knowldege of biolgy to the Soviet Union. To sum it up, Lysenkoism describes the manipulation of the scientific process as a way to reach a predetermined conclusion not using actual science.

    In 1964, Sakharov spoke out against Lysenko's claims at the General Assembly of the Academy of Sciences saying, "He is responsible for the shameful backwardness of Soviet biology and of genetics in particular, for the dissemination of pseudo-scientific views, for adventurism, for the degradation of learning, and for the defamation, firing, arrest, even death, of many genuine scientists."

    In 1964, the president of the Academy of Sciences sent an expert commission was sent to investiagate records kept at Lysenko's experimental farm. A few months later, a devastating critique was made public. As a result, Lysenko became a disgrace to all of Soviet Union, even though his work still impacted others in China.
