Gordon James Ramsay was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966. He was raised in Stratford-upon-avon, England. His first love was soccer. He had high hopes in a professional sports career. Age 15, he joined Glasgow Rangers which is a pro club.

After ending his career of soccer with a knee injury, Ramsay returned to college to get a degree for hotel managment.

Gordon Ramsay was head chef of a newly opened Aubergine in London. He earned the restaurant a 2 star rating. Ramsay was awarded Newcomer of the year award at the Prestigious Catey Awards. Similar to Oscar awards but hotel and restaurant business.

Ramsay published his own book "Passion for Flavour." And he also opened Gordon Ramsay in London's chic Chelsea.

"Passion of Seafood" was published in 1999. "Chef for all Seasons" was released a year later. In 2000, Ramsay won the coveted Chef of The Year award at the Catey awards. 6 years later he was Officer of the Order, of the British Empire.Late 1990's he was filmed on Boiling Point, a British televisoin documentary.

Kitchen Nightmares airs on T.V on C4. But doesn't air in the U.S. until 2007.
