  • Early Life

    Captain James Cook was born to be an explorer.

    When he was only 12 years old, he was very hard worker.
    In Erikson's fifth stage adolescence identity vs. identity confusion, he had an apprenticeship in a general store where he learned about ships and sailing the sea. This is where he was developing into the captain that he became. He is feeling safe and trust's his parents in his surroundings and is able to blossom into a very well rounded individual.
  • Able Seaman

    Captain James Cook is now a teenager.
    He is able to work and at the age of 21 he was now an able seaman. In Erikson's fourth stage industry vs. inferiority the crisis is being so eager to learn everything he is getting himself over worked but doesn't seem to mind. He has faith in is instincts. He becomes a handsome man with great confidence. The trust he has in himself shines through. He is so driven at such a young age it does not stop him.
  • Finding Hawaii

    Captain James Cook decided to go on a voyage and found the Hawaiian Islands.
    He was in his young adult years Erikson's fifth stage, intimacy vs. isolation.
    The crisis is that it started out wonderful with earning the trust of the Hawaiian natives. They started out trading with one another and enjoying learning new things about each other's culture, but it ultimately ended his life.
