He was born in Alcalá de Henares, September/29/1547 -
He spent his childhood travelling around Spain until he settled in Madrid. In 1569 he crossed to Italy, where he began to write a new chapter in his life, which culminated in his being captured in 1575. -
Six children: Andrea, Luisa, Miguel, Rodrigo, Magdalena and Juan. All of them cultured people -
He studied with the humanist Juan López de Hoyos at the Estudio de Madrid. After a quarrel whose details are unknown, he was exiled and went to Italy, where he served a cardinal. -
He obtained a position as Collector or Commissioner of Supplies in Seville.
