I remember in 1st grade our teacher had us do a writing assignment. The teacher assistant told me I had nice handwriting, and when she saw my writing, she told me I should continue writing (as in just not only writing in school).

I remember my mom had a friend who had a daughter that was a year younger than me. Her friend asked her if I could help her daughter with reading because she thought I was really good at it. The school had told her that if her daughter did not improve her reading skills, they were going to have to hold her back. Every day after school, she would come over to my house and we would read a book together for about an hour. Eventually, the school thought she had improved and she was not held back.

I remember the first time I translated something major/complicated for my mom. She needed to go to the ER and I helped her fill out various forms that had very difficult words and writing.

I remember in 4th grade, our teacher lost her voice and could barely speak. We were doing a reading, and she asked me to read it out loud to the class, because she thought I would be the best at doing so.

I remember our teacher assigned us to write a personal narrative essay. After he graded them, he told the class I was the only one who got a 100, and that my essay was "killer".
