    Despite their rapid advance into Manchuria, the Japanese put off the invasion of China for nearly three years. Japan occupied a precarious domestic and international position after the September 18 Incident. Japan was riven by political factionalism due to its stagnating economy. Between 250,000 and 300,000 people were killed, and tens of thousands of women were raped. Japan conquered many of the country and the war in Asia mired in stalemate.

    Battle of British
    This was from 1940-1941. Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, to declare, “never before in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few.” Hitler then began targeting cities and civilians which lasted about 9 months. Children were sent far into the countryside to live with strangers to shield them from the bombings. The Blitz came to an end in June 1941, when Hitler, confident that Britain was temporarily out of the fight, turned his attention to the Soviet Union.

    This was a surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Territory, on the morning of December 7, 1941. The attack led to the U.S. entry into World War II. Following Japanese expansion into French Indochina after the fall of France, they had many oil stolen from the territory. The Japanese were faced with the option of either withdrawing from China and appearing weak or seizing and securing new sources of raw materials.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The German offensive to capture still in grad began in August 1942, using the sixth army and elements of the fourth panzer army. The attack was supported by intense Luftwaffe bombing that reduced much of the city trouble. Heavy fighting continued for another two months. At the beginning of February 1943, the axis forces in still in grad, having exhausted their ammunition and food, surrendered after five months, one week and three days of fighting.

    The Battle of Berlin
    The Battle of Berlin, designated the Berlin Strategic Offensive Operation by the Soviet Union, was the final major offensive of the European theater of World War II. The city’s garrison surrendered to Soviet forces on May 2, but fighting continued to the northwest, west, and southwest of the city until the end of the war in Europe on May 8  as German units fought westward so that they could surrender to the Western Allies rather than to the Soviets.
